Katie Janis

Katie Janis was born in Walla Walla, Washington where she grew up studying ballet and performing and choreographing musical theater. In addition to choreographing her own works for the Dance Majors Concert, Dance Student Association, and Stage Notes at UW, she has performed in UW Dance Presents, the Dance Majors Concert, and the M.F.A. Concert. When she is not dancing around, she can be found working on a crochet project, baking bread, or imagining more dances in her head.

What is one of your favorite moments from your time with the Department of Dance?

Some of my favorite moments are from choreographing for the Dance Majors Concerts and being able to play, explore, and create with so many amazing people.

What plans or goals do you have for post-graduation?

I want to keep creating and hope to pursue choreography and theater-making.
