Congratulations to UW Department of Dance Acting Assistant Professor Dr. Christine Sahin, on the recent publication of her new book, Core Connections; Cairo Belly Dance in the Revolution's Aftermath. Sahin's work in this book:

  • Explores class-stratified sites of belly dance in relation to the aftereffects of the 2011 revolution through multi-sited ethnography
  • Investigates marginalized women's corporeality as a complex site of power and possibility with agency
  • Centers choreographic analysis and embodied knowledge of belly dance to allow for more nuanced interpretations and political insights.

Core Connections was published on May 7th, and is available for purchase at Oxford University Press.
