Congratulations to UW Department of Dance Acting Assistant Professor Dr. Christine Sahin, on the recent publication of her new book, Core Connections; Cairo Belly Dance in the Revolution's Aftermath. Sahin's work in this book:
- Explores class-stratified sites of belly dance in relation to the aftereffects of the 2011 revolution through multi-sited ethnography
- Investigates marginalized women's corporeality as a complex site of power and possibility with agency
- Centers choreographic analysis and embodied knowledge of belly dance to allow for more nuanced interpretations and political insights.
