"This trial itself magnified and illuminated events that are unquestionably an ongoing source of trauma for many members of our community, and should be painful and concerning to us all."
- Prisdent Ana Mari Cauce on the Derek Chauvin trial.
We share and echo President Mari Cauce's statement on the verdict of Derek Chauvin. As Department of Dance Chair Christina Sunardi wrote in last week's newsletter, "We condemn the intolerance that continues to plague our communities and stand in support and solidarity with our students, faculty, staff, neighbors, and all who have experienced racism, discrimination, bigotry, hate, violence, and have lost loved ones."
If you are a UW student and need support, the UW has counseling services for all three campuses, anti-racism resources and upcoming discussions focused on healing, restorative justice and self care for students.
