With sadness, we share the news of the passing of modern dance pioneer and former University of Washington Dance faculty member Joan Skinner on March 7, 2021, at the age of 97. Skinner served on the faculty at the University of Washington from 1967 to 1989 and held the position of Director of the Dance Division (now Department of Dance) from 1985 until 1987. Students from around the world came to study with her and the Skinner Releasing Technique that she developed.
