Victor Alonso Sanchez Acosta

Biography

Victor was born and raised in Federal Way, Washington where he started dancing at the age of 16 when he joined his high school dance team. There he curated his love for dance and continued on to choreograph award-winning choreography for competitive dance teams as well as teaching and coaching dancers throughout his local communities. Victor draws inspiration from various movement styles ranging from various different diasporas. Pushing for inclusion and diversity, Victor aims to help dismantle the systems within academia that have limited the exposure of art from the BIPOC community. What is one of your favorite moments from your time with the Department of Dance?

Choreographing for the Dance Majors Concert and putting a Hip Hop inspired piece on stage.

What plans or goals do you have for post-graduation?

Post graduation Victor will be starting his Rookie Year dancing for the NFL as part of the Seahawks Dance Team. Victor has also secured a Business Administration job for J&V Landscaping Services, LLC. As his passion for dance continues to grow, Victor will be teaching dance and exploring his artistry at different studios in the PNW. Víctor is planning to dive back into the Commercial and Competition dance world with his work alongside local competitive teams for their upcoming season.
