UW Dance Represented in Husky 100

Submitted by Lisa Kwak on

Each spring, the UW announces its Husky 100, recognizing 100 undergraduate and graduate students who are making the most of their time at the UW, actively connecting what happens inside and outside the classroom to make a difference on campus and in their communities. Of the 100 students honored for 2025, two students, Lou Chow and Gloria Shen represent the Department of Dance. Congratulations to Lou and Gloria!

Majors in Dance and Gender, Women, Sexuality Studies

Tracing transnational translations of culture, I aim to untangle histories of coloniality and bring embodied knowledge to the surface of artistic practice. Researching the intersections of dance, community, care, embodiment and health, I work to foster community amongst Queer and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) populations. Working in mediums like dance, textiles, painting, film and writing, I am endlessly seeking new ways to expand my artistic practice, and I aim to produce new knowledge to pour back into my local communities, aspiring to make movement and the arts accessible to all.

B.S. Neuroscience; Minor Dance

I've defined my UW experience at the unique intersection of dance, medicine and neuroscience, where I integrate my interests to fulfill my goals of building community, fostering learning and improving our quality of life. I've developed my passion for human-centered health care through roles ranging from a camp counselor to dance buddy, physicalizing the power of art in redefining health and finding my own voice, which I will use as a physician scientist to fight for the causes I care most about.
