The University of Washington Department of Dance ChoreoCollection is an online database and video library of dance works that hold artistic significance and historical value from the modern and contemporary dance canons. Performed by the Department of Dance graduate students and guests over three decades, the collection includes dances from over 70 choreographers created between 1895 and 2023. The ChoreoCollection allows the legacy of modern and contemporary dance choreographers to live on, and offers viewers access to works that they may never have the chance to see. The ChoreCollection is a research, educational, and cultural resource for scholars, students, and the general public.
Viewing of choreography in the ChoreCollection is subject to copyright and contractual permissions; therefore, not all videos will be available online at this time. For more information about a specific work in the ChoreoCollection, please reach out to Professor Emerita Hannah C Wiely at hcw@uw.edu.
In addition to the body of video performances, the ChoreCollection also houses biographical information about each choreographer, including twelve documentaries that contextualize specific choreographers and their work. These documentaries were published by Professor Emerita Hannah C Wiley, and are available for public viewing.
