Biography
Kiné Camara is a dance artist and educator based in Seattle, WA, who often spends time abroad in Europe and South Africa, performing, exchanging and training.
She began her professional dance journey at 8 years old, with traditional Senegalese styles, and began teaching in 2005, under the direction of her father, Master Drummer and Dancer, Ibrahima Camara, of the National Ballet of Senegal. In 2019, she shifted gears to the world of Afro, training in a mix of styles including Shaku, Naija Street, Azonto, Ndombolo, Pantsula, Amapiano, and Afrohouse.
Kiné Camara is a dance artist, educator and community organizer based in Seattle, WA. She loves bringing her passion for dance to the stage, and has performed with artists including Uncle Waffles, Asake, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Sauti Sol, Archie, and Ibrahima & Safal, however her long life passion is teaching.
She founded Afro Dance Seattle, and serves as the program director in addition to teaching Amapiano dance there and with organizations like University of Washington and Cornish College of the Arts. She has also taught workshops in other cities including Paris, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Playa del Carmen, Vancouver (CA), Atlanta, Washington DC, San Diego and Los Angeles. In 2024, she organized the first annual PNW Afro Dance Camp, featuring a team of 7 educators serving over 100 students. She serves on the executive board, choreographs and dances with the performance team, Element of Passion, aka ElementOP.
