Julia James

Biography

Majors in Dance and Psychology

Julia James is a Seattle based movement artist. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts, with majors in dance and psychology in the Interdisciplinary Honors Program. In her time at the UW, Julia performed works by Jose Limón and Mark Morris with the Chamber Dance Company. Additionally, Julia danced in the Faculty Dance, MFA, and Dance Majors Concerts and was a rehearsal assistant and choreographer for the Dance Majors Concert. Julia is also a member of the Stone Dance Collective under the direction of Eva Stone and performed in CHOP SHOP: bodies of work for the past three years. Growing up in Seattle, Julia started her dance training at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School and danced with PNBS for twelve years.

Future Plans 

My initial plans were to move to New York to dance, but that is on hold for now. I plan on getting my Pilates certification, working with the Seattle Tennis Education Foundation and continuing my Educator role with lululemon post-grad. And of course I hope to dance and move as much as possible! Physical Therapy school sometime in the future...
