Biography

Marte Osiris Madera, born in Guadalajara, Mexico, is a dancer, dance educator, and choreographer. He graduated with a BFA in Dance from San Jose State University and was awarded most outstanding graduating senior. While in school, his choreography was chosen to be adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival, and he also performed professionally with sjDANCEco and the Margaret Wingrove Dance Company. After graduating, Marte  continued dancing professionally with companies across the U.S. including: Spectrum Dance Theater (Seattle, WA), Dance Kaleidoscope (Indianapolis, IN), Lustig Dance Theater (New Brunswick, NJ), and in California with Central West Ballet, Oakland Ballet and Menlowe Ballet; amongst several others. Marte has worked with prominent choreographers including Donald McKayle, Stephanie Martinez, Molissa Fenley, Robert Moses, Kara Davis, and Donald Byrd. Marte has choreographed and taught dance at various institutions to students of all ages and abilities. These institutions include San Jose State University, Oakland Ballet, Central West Ballet, Bremerton Dance Center, Montana Dance Center, Ballet Petit, Allegro Performing Arts, UC Berkeley’s summer camp, and several high school and middle school marching band and color guard programs.
