\nbst is a residency designed to support local dance artists by offerin g the gift of space and time during the UW Department of Dance “off” times \, when formal classes are not in session. bst offers the opportunity to e xperiment\, make “mistakes”\, revise ideas\, and remain focused on the cre ative process without the pressure that accompanies commissioned works or performance deadlines. The UW Department of Dance has la rge\, beautiful studios\, including one where shoes can be worn\, and tap is permitted. It is preferred for recipients to use their own Bluetoot h sound system (the Department is in the process of replacing its system). The residency seeks to support dance artists in the making of new work an d the exploration of original ideas that may or may not culminate in a per formance or methodology. bst supports innovative ideas while connecting th e University to the vibrant Seattle dance community. Artists at all stages of their careers may apply.
\nStudios will be available from 9:00A M – 9:00PM. For safety reasons\, recipients will be asked to develop a set schedule of their studio usage so that the Department can monitor access to the studios and the building. Recipients will also be asked comply with the Department's standard usage guidelines \, and security precautions.

Take advantage of the opportunity to experiment\, make “mistakes\,' revise
ideas\, and remain focused on the creative process without the pressure t
hat accompanies commissioned works or performance deadlines. The UW Depart
ment of Dance has large\, beautiful studios\, including one where shoes ca
n be worn\, and tap is permitted.
The purpose of the residency is
to support dance artists in the making of new work and in the exploration
of original ideas that may or may not culminate in a performance or method
ology. The residency intends to support innovative ideas while nurturing t
he vibrant Seattle dance community. Artists at all stages of their careers
may apply.
Residency Da te Choices (Select One):
*The Department of Dance will be selecting one applicant for Win
ter\, two for Spring\, and one for the Summer session. So there will be 4
residents total.
Studios will be available from 9:00AM – 9:00PM. Fo
r safety and building security reasons\, residents will be asked to comply
with the Department's standard security precautions and maintenance proce
dures.
This residency is NOT for classroom space or teaching space. Artist's use of the studios should generate no revenue. This is mea nt for individual artists and companies to develop ideas. Residents may do informal showings but the Department will need advance notice in writing.
A panel consisting of artis
ts/arts administrators/advocates in the Seattle community read and score t
he applications based on set criteria. Faculty review their decisions and
look at corresponding scheduling needs of the applicants to determine the
final recipients.

br>The purpose of the residency is to support dance artists in the making
of new work and in the exploration of original ideas that may or may not c
ulminate in a performance or methodology. The residency intends to support
innovative ideas while nurturing the vibrant Seattle dance community. Art
ists at all stages of their careers may apply.
Residency Date Choices (Select One):
*The Department of Dance will
be selecting one applicant for Winter\, two for Spring\, and one for the
Summer session. So there will be 4 residents total.
Studios will be
available from 9:00AM – 9:00PM. For safety and building security reasons\
, residents will be asked to comply with the Department's standard securit
y precautions and maintenance procedures.
This residency is NOT < /u>for classroom space or teaching space. Artist's use of the studios shou ld generate no revenue. This is meant for individual artists and companies to develop ideas. Residents may do informal showings but the Department w ill need advance notice in writing.
A panel consisting of artists/arts administrators/advocates in the
Seattle community read and score the applications based on set criteria.
Faculty review their decisions and look at corresponding scheduling needs
of the applicants to determine the final recipients.
